At Little Country Schoolhouse, we believe young children learn best when they have the freedom to explore, the opportunity to play, and caring adults beside them to guide the way.
Located in beautiful Coleville, California, our rural private school provides a warm, nurturing environment where children can learn through hands-on experiences, purposeful play, and meaningful everyday moments.
From caring for our garden to visiting with our farm animals, creating art, exploring nature, and building early academic skills, children are encouraged to be curious, confident, and excited to learn.
We aren’t just preparing children for kindergarten. We’re helping them build a strong foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
Programs for Every Stage
Infant & Toddler Care
The earliest years are filled with incredible growth and discovery. Our infant and toddler program provides a safe, nurturing environment where little ones can build trusting relationships, explore their surroundings, and learn at their own pace.
We focus on responsive care and developmentally appropriate experiences that support each child’s individual needs while giving them plenty of opportunities to move, explore, play, and connect.
Preschool Program
Our preschool program combines the best of childhood with purposeful preparation for the years ahead.
Children learn through play, hands-on activities, stories, creative projects, nature exploration, and everyday experiences. Along the way, they develop important early skills in literacy, math, communication, problem-solving, self-help, and social-emotional development.
Our goal isn’t to rush children into “big kid” learning. It’s to make learning meaningful, engaging, and fun.
TK Wraparound Care
Need care before or after your child’s TK program?
Our TK wraparound care provides a welcoming place for children to spend their day while continuing to learn, play, explore, and connect with friends.
It’s a comfortable extension of the school day where children can enjoy hands-on experiences and the familiar, nurturing environment of Little Country Schoolhouse.
Learning Happens Everywhere
Our Program & Curriculum
At Little Country Schoolhouse, our classroom extends far beyond four walls. Our rural property gives children opportunities to experience things they simply can’t get from a worksheet or screen.
Science & Nature
Students will dig in the garden, watch plants grow, visit our farm animals, observe nature, get their hands messy, ask questions, and discover how the world works. These everyday experiences become opportunities for children to practice language, math, science, problem-solving, responsibility, and cooperation.
Langauge, Literacy & Math
Children build language, literacy, and math skills through stories, songs, conversations, hands-on activities, games, and everyday experiences. They’ll practice counting, recognizing letters and sounds, building vocabulary, exploring patterns, and using early math skills as they play, create, and discover.
Social & Emotional Development
Children learn to recognize their feelings, express themselves, build friendships, and navigate everyday challenges with confidence. Through play, conversation, and caring guidance, they’ll practice sharing, taking turns, solving problems, and becoming more independent. Every interaction is an opportunity to help children build confidence, develop empathy, and learn that their feelings matter.
Practical Life Skills
Children build practical life skills through everyday routines and meaningful responsibilities. They’ll practice self-care, follow familiar routines, make choices, care for their belongings, and take on age-appropriate tasks that help them become more independent. From cleaning up after an activity to helping care for our classroom, garden, and animals, children learn that they are an important part of our community.

MEET THE DIRECTOR
Kristina Beaumont
Hello, my name is Kristina and for the past 35 years, early childhood education has been my passion and calling.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with children from infancy through 12 years of age in the roles of both a classroom teacher, and a childcare center director.
Little Country Schoolhouse was created from a love of children and early learning, and a vision for a warm, nurturing environment where children can simply be children and gain the support they need to thrive.
